Frida Kahlo, Sotheby’s, and OpenSea at Decentraland’s Metaverse Art Week

Date:

This year’s Metaverse Art Week named The World is Made of Code stands out with big names and urgent topics on the agenda. Thus, the 3rd annual event by Decentraland’s Metaverse Art Week (MAW) 2022 joins “mind-bending installations” from Frida Kahlo’s Family with contributions from the most renowned official Ukrainian NFT project, Meta History.

Inspired by this year’s Venice Biennale, the MAW 2022 will be devoted to artsy representations abundant in mathematical designs one can find in nature, and bridge the metaverse implementation of what the IRL immersive experience is.

“Metaverse Art Week 2022 is coming at a pivotal moment for the larger adoption of Web3 technology and decisions about our digital reality. We believe that the future of the internet should be built by decentralized communities who do not seek to profit off of user data, imagination, and creativity,”  Creative Director of the Decentraland Foundation, Sam Hamilton commented, adding, “this year’s Art Week is a love letter to what the next generation of artists are doing in the metaverse.”

The Metaverse Art Week 2022 starts on August 24th and will be featuring works from a range of globally-known artists and designers, as well as major art houses like Sotheby’s, creative projects like Artnet, and UXartlab, and major NFT platforms, such as OpenSea, Rarible, and far beyond.

As for Frida Kahlo’s Family, the community will launch the Frida Kahlo Family Red House in partnership with Ezel.Life, eliminating the genius’ early years in art. This will unveil Kahlo’s never-before-seen artwork from a new angle of VR experience. The exhibits are categorized as Contemporary Art World, Web3 Art Spaces, and Digital Artists & Communities.

The other major contributor to this year’s art festivity is the Ukrainian Meta History – Museum of War, the chronological NFT depiction of the Russian war against Ukraine. Recently the Museum of War has raised over 1 million in donations to help Ukrainian civilians and the army stand against the russian aggression.

Of course, we couldn’t fail to note the virtual 3D sculpture garden known as Art Plaza, described by Decentraland as a “gravity-defying open-air museum.” To add value to the picture, the event will be abundant in round tables, conferences, in-house activities, and art-focused gatherings so far.

“The third annual Metaverse Art Week will explore how the human spirit is hardwired to elicit an emotional response when presented with art inspired by mathematical designs present in nature, and how metaverse technology is pushing the boundaries of programmatic art and redefining what an immersive experience is,” Sam Hamilton proceeded.

Being an art connoisseur, you cannot simply miss out on visiting the event. Take time to broaden the horizons of your inner self by joining the art festivity by Decentraland!
